Confidentiality of library records
Library records are for the sole purpose of protecting public property and are not to be used directly or indirectly to identify the types of materials used by library patrons. Under no circumstances shall the library staff answer to a third party about materials a patron is reading or using or about the kind of information asked for from the library by a patron.
No library records shall be made available to casual members of the public, the press, or any agency of state, federal, or local government except pursuant to such process order or subpoena as may be authorized under the authority of and pursuant to federal, state or local law relating to civil, criminal or administrative discovery procedures or legislative investigative power.
The board of trustees and the library director shall resist the issuance or enforcement of any such process order until such time as a proper showing of good cause has been made in a court of competent jurisdiction. Moreover, and costs incurred by the library in any search through patron records, even under court order, shall be charged to the agency demanding such search.
1. The library is not responsible for the content of any materials accessed through the Internet. Parents or guardians, NOT the library or its staff, are responsible for the Internet information selected and/or accessed by their children. Parental supervision of children searching the Internet is advised.
2. Viewing of certain materials in the public library may be considered improper in time, place, or manner. Inappropriate use of the Internet, as decided by library staff, may result in suspension or revocation of Internet use.
3. The library reserves the right to end an Internet session at any time.
Hours of Service and holidays
The library will be open a minimum of 63 hours a week except during specified holiday weeks. During open hours service should be maintained for all library users - children, young adults and adults.
The library will be closed on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Apple 'n' Pork Festival Saturday, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day. If holidays fall on Sunday, the following Monday will be observed. Exceptions are at the discretion of the board
